Why should girls play sports at school?

Plenty has been written and talked about why girls should play sports and its many health benefits(1). However, the discussion should also focus on why girls should join a sports team at school. Here are a few of the advantages of your daughter playing sports at school, observed my parents and educators.

  • Girls at school look for a place to belong and be part of something. A sports team is an excellent place to be.
  • Playing at school is a time-consuming activity. It makes the girls plan and manage their time more effectively.
  • The more focused a girl is in sports, the lesser focus she would have on dressing up and chasing relationships at school. It is one of the prime reasons for considerable lesser pregnancy in teenage girls who play sports in America.

Summary

It is also important to surround our daughters with more and more of the different books on sports she is interested in.

If your daughter loves soccer, read the soccer books for kids here.

For the basketball loving girls, read the children’s books on basketball here.

Check out these books for your American football obsessed daughter.
